Theft in the Dark Empty
PostSubject: Theft in the Dark   Theft in the Dark EmptyTue Mar 16, 2010 11:34 pm

Cold heart beating at twice the normal rate within her chest, Dark Ranger Lemayas disembarked from the rocking boat, that she had taken along the murky green canals of the undercity from the Rogues quarter, as it drew up to the jetty next to the enterance to the Royal Quarter. Slowly, her legs shaking slightly, she looked up at the huge gates, heralding the opening to the tunnel that led to Sylvanas' Meeting Chamber in the Royal quarter. Glancing to the right she could see the huge sack, suspended above a pit, filled with all matter of disgusting residue and poisons. Lemagas shuddered, a quiver of fear running down her back. Tearing her bright red eyes away from the looming sach she rearanged her hood, pulling the hem down, trying to cover her eyes. Taking in a deep breath of cold air, she began to walk forwards, entering the tunnel.

The Royal deathguards gave the Dark Ranger dirty looks, saying 'we're better than you' with their eyes. Lemayas averted her gaze, her eyes widening with fear, as she lowered her head and continued down the tunnel. She did not like what she had been ordered to do, an order that defied both the Mistress and the Dark Lady, but she knew the consequences of refusing - and she didn't like them. No she had to do what he asked, even if it meant... stealing from the Dark Lady.

The Royal quarter was quiet, far above their heads it was nighttime, and only a few advisors and Horde Embassadors remained in the room. Sylvanas and the Kor'kron were both away on buisness, and Sharlinda was no-where to be seen. Slowly making her way across the room, advoiding anyones gaze and using her Dark Ranger Uniform as a disguise, Lemayas entered one of the Alcoves, ducking through a hidden door in the side of one. Entering a narrow spiral staircase she decended, shuddering as she pushed cobwebs away from her face. She was alone, in the Vaults.

Slowly the Dark Ranger decended the stairs, taking care to watch her footing. As she arived at the bottom, she pushed open a metal grate to find herself in a hallway, streching as far as she could see, filled with bookcases and shelves, endless shelves, containing old and forgotton artefacts, many worthless and some worth more than anyone could possibly imagine, all kept, archived and forgotton. Slowly, gingerly, she crept through the aisles, looking at the map her benefactor had given her. It marked up all the traps the Grand Apothecary had set up around her target, a small parcel which contents she did not know. It had recently found its way into SYlvanas' possesion, and her Employer wanted it. Enough to threaten her with - she dared not think of it. Looking at the map she noted the position of a trip wire. sure enough, looking down she could vagely see a strand, hidden amoung the cobwebs on the floor, and attached to one end was an unknown machanism. Smiling faintly she stepped over it, and ducked under another the map pointed out.

Slowly, Lemayas advoided more and more traps, making her way to the centre. As she approached she got more and more nervous, almost setting a pressure pad off, daring not to think what vile fumes it might release. eventually, after what seemed like a decade, she arrived at the centre, and turned, looking at the shelf. On it, was a few various items, all looking tarnished and worthless, an old Septre and Orb, an antique suit of armour, disasembles and filed on various shelves. Above the shelf was the letter 'T' and there, on the middle shelf, in a spot of disturbed dust, was the small Brown paper parcel she was after. It was insignifigant, large enough to fit under her arm, but not as large as she was expecting. Turing, one of her swords knocked the large breast plate off the shelf, and it smashed to the floor, with a huge clanging. The noice ricoshed around the walls, getting louder and louder, as the metal bounced on the stone floor. Slowly, silence returned. Not daring to breathe, Lemayas listened.

Boom.

Boom-boom.

The slow, booming sound, of an Abomination. Turning, she saw its feint figure line up with the end of the row of shelves, as it looked at her. Hurredly she hid her face with the red cloth mask of the Vile Thorn, and turned before begining to run. However the Abomination was unbelieveably fast, lumbering down the thin corridor, its huge fatty body knocking shelves flying on both sides. Leaping and ducking under traps, Lemayas turned her head and saw the creature again, roaring, a lot closer, almost at her heels. Pounding heart, tears drew to her eyes in desperation, her teeth chattering with fear. the creature reached out a hand, brushing her ear with his furthest extended finger, trying to grab at her. he lowered her head as she ran, gripping the parsel ever closer to her chest, her small legs pounding at the floor as fast as possible, as whatever was in the parsel cut into her chest. Turing back to face the way she was running, her eyes opened wildly with supprise as she tripped, falling shelves all around her, an Abomination at her back, and the parcel in her hands.
As she flew forwards, everything slowed down. A shelf in front of her was falling, and she dropped the Parcel, the brown paper package flying through a gap in the shelf as it fell. Screaming out, in a painfull high piched note, her eyes flashed white and the Banshee releaced itself from her body, shooting through the shelves, which fell onto her body, shattering in an explosin of splinters and dust. The banshee attempted to grab at the falling parcel, but it clattered to the floor, the brown paper falling off and revealing its contents. Behind this, a huge cloud of green gass had been releaced from the wire Lemayas had tripped on, and had engulfed the Abomination, corrosively destroying his stiching and liquifying its insides. Exploding in a shower of green goo, produced by the strain of blight used, the abomination showered over Lemayas' body, staining her leathers with paches of green. Slowly, everything fell silent again.

Picking up the contents of the Parcel, and wrapping it back up in its paper, the banshee drifted bakc over to her body. Looking down the ghostly figure knelt, and stuck two fingers in the goo that covered its body. Pulling the fingers up again, the goo stuck to the ectoplasmic matter making up the banshee's hand, a thick, viscous substance that, the moment it unstuck from her hand, shot back onto Lemayas' body and wobbled, bounsing up and down, reflecting the Banshee's disgusted face back at her. Sighing, the banshee re-entered the Body of the Dark Ranger, who climbed to her feet, her face dismayed at her state. Her hood had fallen down, and bits of rotting sawdust thickened by the goo had stuck itself in her hair. It wouldn';t be easy to get out. Raising her hood again she heard a squelch as the cloth stuck to the hair, and a disgusted look flashed across her face. again sighing she headed for the stairs to return the package.

The Dark Figure Aproached her, a yellow glow escaping through the slit in the mask he was wearing. Without a word he snached the Parcel out of her hands, and looked at her, and then at the goo covering her body. Smiling slightly under his mask, he turned on his heel, and disapeared into the shadows.

Lemayas burst into tears.
