What never used to be. Empty
PostSubject: What never used to be.   What never used to be. EmptySun Jul 31, 2011 5:19 pm

The wind clashed against me. My wings almost failing at the violent gust. I was almost in a world of mine own. Asking myself questions as I flew over the Arathi Highlands 'Did that rogue who kidnapped two of my High Court really have a plan of revenge?'. It seemed I had a new question to ask at each region I crossed. Hillsbrad. ' Are the Thorn's still patrolling there?'. Silverpine. 'Where are they keeping Gerrond?'. Trisfal. 'Am I being watched?'. So many questions, so little people to ask of them. Perhaps no one.

I turned my wings slightly and caught the wind at an incorrect time, taking me into the ruins faster than I wished. A storm following the tracks I had left behind. I straightened out and dived myself to the side , again catching a foul gust, slamming one of my wings violently into a pillar in the Ruins of Lordaeron.

I dismissed my talons for claws and quickly dashed to the other pillar. I thought I saw moving shadows, perhaps it was my fear of being alone in the very ruins the Vile Thorn have been spotted more than once. I knew if I had taken more with me , we would already be in the heat of battle with Forsaken dread-guards. This wouldn't help if I were to sniff out Gerrond's Vile prison.

I ran to the edge of the bridge and pounced my way up some ledges and entered the main building. Again my thoughts almost getting the best of me 'Where is he?'...'You will never find their hideout without me..' .

"Enough.." I muttered.

It had seemed even my mutters echoed through the maze of ruin. A gust sweeped through the ruins. The howling only reminded me of how Gerrond must be being tortured, perhaps even as I speak. The ruins were silent. Even my paws were making a noise. Scratch. Shuffle. Screech. I looked down and sighed as I noticed my eagerness had drawn my claws out of their hiding spot. I put them away and carried on through the ruins. I tried to stick to the shadows but almost every room allowed a beam of moonlight into it, lighting almost all of it up. The two eyes appeared. I stopped and edged forward slightly. The eyes were a forest green meet Trisfal dirt color.

"Who's there..?" I hissed.

No answer. I growled and pounced forward. A bat screeching as it flew away. I gulped, exhaled and carried on. I still hadn't caught a scent of him. When at that moment I was hit by the smell of blood. I carried to the end of the hall only to find a few blood soaked bones. The marrow had softened to allow the bloodied warrior to flow into them only to harden with the lack of fluid. I shook myself out of my deep analysis of the bones and peered round the next corner. Korkron Guards. I must have stumbled upon one of the entrances into the Undercity.

I quickly scrambled up a few loose bricks and made my way up to the first roof. I walked outside, the air did not change, it was still a dusty inhalation I had been receiving for the past two hours inside the ruins. Still, I walked to the ledge , looked around , perhaps allowing my thoughts to stir up my eagerness even more. Noticing, I still had alot of ground to cover. I gulped again and jumped up to the next ledge.

My eagerness. Perhaps it was time to admit that it was not eagerness, but fear. Fear of those who had captured my friend. Capturing me. I had not feared our skirmishes when we were in groups. Gerrond was captured alone. Would they spring at the chance to outnumber and capture me too? I drew my claws and nodded promptly to myself. At least if they caught me they could not take my weapons away.

The wind had clearly taken any clear scent away in it's path. So again I felt alone. Not that a scent would accompany me, but at least it was something useful I could be doing. The moon had fully risen now, some could even say it was already making it's descent into dawn. I do not know why but I felt as if I had to see the moon in full light, perhaps to give me some inspiration to move on. The tall spire was blocking my view so I stood to the side slightly. I stared blankly at it for some moments. Nothing.

The wind had now settled as I headed back into the ruins. Finally now to search for any scents. I picked up a few, each leading me to a Korkron guard point. I knew Gerrond wouldn't be in the Undercity. However, I could almost feel his presence here. I remembered Almay telling me about the Thorn Hideout and how she would have to show me where it is. With much gratitude I had denied..What was I thinking?

"There must be something I am missing here." I muttered to myself.

I prowled along the edges of the walls, keeping myself in the shadows.

Scratch.

Scratch.

Shuffle.

A noise I instantaneously linked to a Thorn. I sniffed around me, I ran through the ruins . My heart racing. 'I must find it' I thought to myself. Scratch. Scuttle. Swipe. The noise became clear. The noise was coming from the next room. I subtly sneaked into the room and pounced to the area the noise was coming from. Blindly. Without feeling of remorse I pounced. I opened my paws to find a black rat. I took a huge sigh.

"Not far from a Vile Thorn are you, Rat? Foul. Dirty. Light footed. Still..Almost graceful while moving.." I said out loud.

Then came to me a feeling. A feeling like I was being watched. A small gust of wind had blown through the room. Whatever the thing was. It was right behind me.

"Shan'do." Said the voice from behind me.

'Shan'do?' I thought to myself. Still I span around and pointed my staff at the man.

"Oh. Good evening Elandorin." I said, almost shocked.

"Good evening Shan'do. I heard you were here on the frequency. When I found out you were alone, well I smelt adventure." Said Elandorin.

"Yes..Well..You can stay but mind out..This place has been a hot-spot for Thorn activity." I said. Suddenly feeling relieved I was not alone.

He nodded and smirked. I could see determination in his eyes. I could also see his eagerness to hear about my proclaimed success so far.

"Yeah..The storm took off with my scent, I mistook a rat for a Thorn, I also got lost in this maze of a ruin and then I found you. You still want me to teach you correct? I said in an amusing tone.

He smirked and nodded.

Two cats. Wandering aimlessly through the Ruins of Lordaeron. Darkness surrounding them. 'So many delightful possibilities'.

Elandorin was caught on a scent. Chasing it through the ruins. I followed. Clearly just taking a break from the past eleven hours of insanity, running around looking for clues. He stopped and turned again, catching a new scent. Leading us to fallen stone monuments, broken spears, swords, shields. We heard footsteps and the clang of weapons or perhaps plate armor. We took cover behind an old monument.

We peered at the passage way. I had stopped breathing for a moment. Some Orc's stood at the entrance to the passage way., they stopped and walked back down the passage.

"That was close.." I said.

Elandorin nodded.

"Your not much of a talker are you?" I said, grinning wickedly.

He only smirked. Only proving my point further...

We crept out from behind the monument. An arrow shooting past my head. More Orc's had came from the other way. All the commotion also caused the others to re-emerge from the passage. Arrows were being flung across the room.

"Follow me" Elandorin hissed.

He had jumped through an old window frame and onto the roof. I followed. An arrow catching the end of my tail as I jumped. We found ourselves clattering up and down roof tiles , more arrows being shot at us. The jagged roofs had ended. We looked down into the main square.

"Jump!" I ordered.

So we did just that, both jumping down, both of our feet dipping into the green liquid. More arrows came at us, several of them plopping into the liquid. We both dashed and ran into two of the Orc's on the other side of the main building. When, as if a miracle a long chain of fire had suddenly shot into the scene, almost a image of a Avian could be seen. The arrows kept on firing. Me and Elandorin both looked puzzled.

"Salutations!" Said a cute little voice.

"Wait..I know that voice.." I replied.

Elandorin even more puzzled than ever.

"Carcia Firesprocket at your service! Wait.." She stopped and looked around.

"Look at this mess! Was this all you two!"She yelled.

"Carcia, get us out of here! We are being shot at by Orc's!" I bellowed back.

"Hmm..Oh green gills! Yes I know them! Well..My teleportation has never been favored by many people entering my portals.." She said with a pondering look upon her.

"Just get us out of here! Anywhere!" Both me and Elandorin shouted, completely synchronized.

"Bad kitties! Do not shout! You will scare the portal away!" She snapped.

"Oh by the way..Sometimes my portals have some slight misdirection issues..Please keep all of your limbs and..Tails...Inside the portal at all times!" She spoke, lightly.

"Misdirection? Whats that supposed to mea-..." I roared as I was thrown into the portal.

The sound almost deafened me as we shot trough the transportation procedure.
Then I was blinded by a white light, as I regained my senses I noticed I was falling , we all were. We suddenly overtook Carcia. Splash!

I saw Elandorin smirk at me. We had landed in the great sea, just off of Stormwind Docks. Carcia floated down lightly and froze a small spot on the water to land on.

"Wasn't that fun!?" She yelled excitedly.

We both chuckled at her. I noticed a few arrows floating near us and some blood resting atop the water from my tail wound. I placed my hand on my back and analysed the blood.

Elandorin smirked. "Hey..It could have been worse..Alot worse."I snickered.

"We both owe you our thanks Carcia. If you had not ported us away we would be. Green gilled? Food." I said, Taking rests to exhale.

"Yes, yes, yes. Now out of the water! Swab the decks! What do you mean there's no mop? Get one!!" Carcia was bellowing happily to herself.

In a moments flash, she had darted away. The fire crested Avian had made it's way to the docks.

"Race you there!" Elandorin challenged.

I smirked and fired off into my more aquatic suited form.

The night was still upon us. A rather pleasant ending to a very long , unsuccessful night.

Still racing off, neck and neck. I thought about Gerrond. Perhaps he just wasn't where I thought he would be..Perhaps the Thorns had already silenced him to his last waking breath. With every death of a skilled Warrior, comes a branch of several new legacies. These legacies will not exist this time. I will find him. I will find them. I will not be alone.
